In an effort, they say, to update their logo with the image and programming they’ve carried for years, MTV has made the brazen step to drop the words Music Television from its logo. Read the article below and weigh in with your thoughts in the comments section below!
Is it a surprise to anyone actually watching MTV that the network on Monday quietly dropped “Music Television” from its logo? Probably not. It’s a wonder that anyone even noticed the difference.
But a difference there is. For the first time in the network’s 29-year history, MTV has decided to give the channel’s iconic logo a face-lift.
“The people who watch it today, they don’t refer to MTV as music television. They don’t have the same emotional connection that, say, the people who are writing about [the logo change] do,” MTV’s head of marketing Tina Exarhos said. Indeed, The Wrap called it “a minor change with major symbolism,” while The Hollywood Reporter wrote having “music television” in the old logo was “a constant reminder that MTV was branding itself one way, programming itself another.”
Outside of its annual “VMAs” music video award show, and with the cancellation of “TRL,” MTV has long abandoned music as a programming mainstay. For years, all eyes have been on genre-busting reality shows like “The Osbournes,” “Newlyweds,” “Jackass,” “My Super Sweet 16″ and “The Hills.” The network is currently riding high with the docudrama “Teen Mom” and “Real World”-esque “Jersey Shore.”
Exarhos said the network’s marketing team had tossed around losing “Music Television” from the logo before, but “we had never taken the idea upstairs to [MTV president Van Toffler and MTV Networks chair-CEO Judy McGrath]. We thought, ‘No one is ever going to let us do this.’ It’s the one thing we’ve never touched,” she said. But with the channel’s most recent on-air redesign — something the network switches up every couple of years — “now felt like the right time.”

Does the newly cropped logo mean no music at all? “Absolutely not,” Exarhos said, pointing to the success of the “VMAs” and the recent Haiti telethon organized by George Clooney and the network. Some editions of the logo, in fact, feature Beyonce at the “VMAs” and Jay-Z on the telethon, while others promote new shows like “My Life as Liz” and upcoming ones including “The Hard Times of RJ Berger”.
Beyond cropping out the words “Music Television,” Exarhos said her team redrew and minimally tweaked the placement of the “TV” within the “M” (Spot the difference between the logos, pictured above.)

If you downloaded the iTunes Deluxe version of Adam Lambert’s debut album ‘For Your Entertainment‘, you would have found a behind-the-scenes video of Adam’s photoshoot for his album cover art. Well, a new extended version of the behind-the-scenes from Adam’s photoshoot has appeared!
This was supposedly posted for an instant at MSNBC, and the fans think this could be one of the bonus videos on the Japanese edition DVD for ‘For Your Entertainment’. Well, whatever it is, just enjoy the pretty!

Alright – I just gotta say this ….. everyone needs to chyll out. Yea, we love Adam and his music and want whats best for him and we know airplay and video play is important – because it is – but some of you have gone beyond being a fan to being obsessive – resulting in obnoxious behavior and its damaging Adam’s career. Really now. Adam should NOT have to tweet you saying to use common sense and stop being so pushy. And this isn’t the first time, either. It’s a little embarassing, don’tcha think? There’s no reason to be pushy. You can’t just call or email and politely let the station know you listen to them all day at work or home or during a certain time frame and would love if they would play Adam more? One email is enough. There’s no reason to call or email again 45 minutes after they play him and request him again. Don’t you have something else to do during the day?? Where do you all find the time?? Behaving as some of you do annoys those who could help Adam because it bogs down their productivity due to dealing with what probably feels like harassment. In order to make it stop – make you stop – they refuse to play his music no matter how much you bother them. That’s what happens. And its not helping Adam. So your intentions backfire. Please maintain some self control. Certainly he wants you to request his music and vote for his video’s …. but politely and un-stalker-ishly.
That brings me to a few other points as well … since we’re on the subject.
When you see Adam out in public it’s NOT okay to chase after him screaming his name. It’s NOT okay to run along side him video taping his every footstep while harassing him with nonsense conversation. Surely you know how to act civil, yes? Just because Adam eventually gives in and is polite to you when you clearly could tell he was trying to have some time for himself that evening does NOT mean it’s okay to do in the first place. You’re grown women, for Gods sake. What the hell are you all doing?!?
On the matter of Kris Allen – I’ve read comments about Kris written by Adam fans that are totally negative – as if one can’t be both an Adam fan AND a Kris fan. Kris isn’t the devil, ya know. Just because he won and Adam lost doesn’t really mean a damn thing. You did hear Adam say that many times, right? Kris is a nice guy and doesn’t deserve to be bashed for every thing he does, while you put Adam on a pedestal for everything he does. Kris is talented as well, and does good things with his life just as Adam is, and does.
Be respectful and act grown. The obsession some of you portray makes it seem like Adam doesn’t have fans … he has an organizedcult following. And that’s freakin’ scary!
Some of the things too many of his fans are doing make a mockery out of his name and all that he is trying to establish and accomplish.
Adam needs support …. not obstacles.

I know this won’t make me popular with the Super Fans … but enough is enough and it needs to be said. Put things in perspective ….. okay, yea … well thanks. Adam thanks you, too.

Lmao – these interview video’s of Adam with MTV’s Jim Cantiello are hilarious! I love this guy. Jim can give Adam a run for his money as I think a hyped-up-Jim is even wayy more intense than Adam is! — I think he even makes Adam say “whoa” a little lmao! I’m pretty sure these have been posted here before (but, maybe not) but I don’t always have time to watch what I post … and sometimes I don’t get the chance, or forget, to catch up — what with Adam always having soo much news to report! So I ran across these today and am watching them, and … lolololololololol that Adam knows about the glambulge! That is too f’in funny! That’s a little epic, me thinks … lmao )
Adam talks to Jim about flipping the finger on stage at the ama’s. I like how Adam says doing that happened like an out of body experience. It was just flowing with adrenaline and, I guess, all that tension brought on by critics (and OUT Magazines editor – lol) naturally flowed right up through his middle finger – that, too, was an epic moment. Adam has a lot of those, I think. lol. But the way he explains it – I think we all already got this – but the way he explains it like a punctuation ending to those who do say he is controlled and puppeted was very good. I guess he set those people straight, huh?! lol
I LOOOOOOVEE Adam’s explanation of his *ninja roll* when he tripped up the stairs during the amas performance!!! His comparison to having felt like a cockroach on its back who just got sprayed with poison kicking and rolling around not knowing where it is or what to do — sad for the cockroach, funny as hell for Adam’s explanation! {Epic again?? Too many?? Am I overdoing it now?? lol} Since Adam has “no ninja roll experience” at all … I’d say he got very lucky this turned out so smoothly!

Adam talks about not knowing what direction to go in musically and then decides to throw all of it – rock, pop, techno – into a big melting pot and make an album that way. …. he just needs to put more of that *rock opera* into it next time, imo. I tend to agree with this video commenter Paris7333:
I think Adam should have started out with an album in the venue of which we were accustomed to on Idol. He is much stronger when there is not so much electro sounds overwhelming his beautiful voice. When you first come “out of the gate” it should be you…doing what you are best at. Unfortunately, he doesn’t sound as good as many of the other electro pop stars. His voice is much purer than that and way above such music.

While there, he also offered a signed photo of himself and autographed “Ellen” undies (which she gives to all her guests) as a donation to be auctioned off on ebay to raise money for Haiti relief efforts.
The friend with them is Sutan Amrull. He is a drag performer from L.A. He was in some of Adam’s birthday pics….They are in Cabo San Lucas, in Baja, Mexico.
I’m all for Adam having privacy and I would never stalk him with my own camera, but I’m not opposed to posting whats already out there. Here’s to the guys – have a relaxing and sunny vacation — Enjoy!

1. Adam looks cute and adorable. Love when he dresses in street clothes
2. Hated that the interviewer guy read from a script (in the intro) – and didn’t even try to fake it
3. Thought asking Adam about Indiana football was – stupid.
4. Adam answers redundant questions eloquently.
5. AMA’s was months ago – how long will people keep asking him about it??
6. I knew Adam felt hurt and a bit confused after the AMA backlash … even though he kept playing it cool in front of us.
7. I think its interesting that here on ALS we sometimes discuss Adam’s style and how he may not be going down the exact right path for his music, while others worship every choice he makes … its interesting how, while he’s happy with it as we are, he also wasn’t and isn’t always sure. This reinforces to me that his fans shouldn’t worship every single thing he does – just because he does it – because even he is feeding off of not only what he likes, but what others want … and how does he know what others want if they aren’t deciding based on what they hear, or what they think is best for him, but instead just-because-its-him.
8. Given the time frame he had to develop a style and an album – it came out good. Not sure it’s where his voice belongs, but …. it’s still a really good album.
9. I think Adam’s doing great with starting his Freedom Revolution – lol.
10. I don’t like how the youtube page, and the interviewer, says Adam came out in front of the world as being gay .. because he was already out … and anyone living in the 21st century of technology would have known that with a little google search during Idol’s run. If I were Adam I would be quite annoyed that people keep saying that – its kinda like calling him a liar.
11. Considering Adam doesn’t want to be poster boy for gay rights or lead a gay revolution I’m wondering why they keep bringing it up in interviews. Respect Adam’s desire to separate his music from who he partners up with.
12. I agree with Adam that calling himself a “freak” is an endearing term. It’s very individual, and freeing. But, I never connected it to his being gay. I connected it to his being different in the sense of being an open book, and having a darker, and more sparkly, style than most – just a general rebellious, rocker attitude … the one true rockers love, and hate when it becomes mainstream. Gay never entered my mind, but I guess maybe it did to other people when he sings this line? I don’t understand why, though, because why would being gay have anything to do with being a freak? There’s plenty of freaky hetero people – I know cuz I’m one of’em. lol
13. Didn’t he meet Madonna like forever ago?? He’s known Monte for years, and talked about Madonna in the RS issue way back in June and at that time it was a past event. Why are people still asking him about it as a *recent* event? Justin Timberlake is recent … and even better. It’s like interviewers draw their questions from the past.
14. Overall good interview. Great close-ups. Still wishing for more ingenuity from the interviewers.
As Spring draws closer and plans for the long-awaited visit by Adam Lambert to the UK steadily take shape, it looks as if British fans will be in for a double dose of the glam- rock god.
The latest news from the people at Sony UK, who have generously been keeping Brit fans abreast of progress with Operation AdamStorm UK, is that Adam will make 2 visits to these shores, one in March and one in April.
Although dates have not been confirmed, these visits may take place towards the end of each month.
The fact that his trip is being split into two could suggest that big things have been planned for Adam elsewhere, in between.
It’s expected that the UK visits will consist mostly of TV and radio interviews, primarily in London, although regional radio interviews in northern England are being considered too. While there are no plans yet for Adam to perform, London is teeming with nightspots that would offer the perfect backdrop to a live performance of many of the club-ready songs on Adam’s CD, For Your Entertainment.
Talking of the CD, an article in today’s Times newspaper confirms that the title track has been selected as Adam’s first UK single, to be released on 19 April by RCA, one week before the album.
Early reactions among fans to this choice have been positive. A first single from an artist touted as fresh, new and controversial needs to make a bold statement. For Your Entertainment is exciting enough to attract attention on the radio but will also sound completely at home in clubs up and down the country.
With Adam here at the same time to promote his music, it will at last be the turn of UK fans to be spoiled with numerous media appearances by their idol, without having to wait for everything to be uploaded to YouTube.
Incidentally, the article in The Times is a further sign that the UK is about to be “Adamized” as it is the first real feature on Adam Lambert to appear in any British newspaper. And it doesn’t hurt that The Times (formerly a broadsheet) is one of the more respected UK publications.
